The forging methods for titanium alloys include: free forging, hot die forging, and special forging.
Free forging
Free forging (ODF) of titanium alloy is a forging method that utilizes external forces to deform the titanium alloy between the upper and lower anvils, obtaining forgings with certain microstructures, properties, shapes, and sizes. It is particularly suitable for producing large forgings or oversized forgings in heavy-duty machinery.
Hot die forging
Hot die forging (HDF) of titanium alloy is a forging method that utilizes external forces to deform the titanium alloy billet in the die chamber, obtaining forgings with certain microstructure and properties, shape and high dimensional accuracy. Hot die forging is suitable for producing titanium alloy forgings with complex structural shapes, high dimensional accuracy, and small machining allowances. In order to meet the design technical requirements for the microstructure and properties of titanium alloy forgings, hot die forging is widely used in titanium alloy forging. Titanium alloy hot die forging can be divided into three forging processes: ordinary die forging (DF), isothermal forging (IDF), and superplastic forging (SPF).
Special forging
Special forging (SF) of titanium alloy is a forging method that uses external forces to deform titanium alloy billets on specialized equipment, obtaining forgings with certain microstructure and properties, shape and size.
