COMPOSITION:
Contains per g water soluble powder:
Colistin (as sulphate) 4,800,000 IU
INDICATIONS:
Gastrointestinal infections in calves,
sheep, goats, swine and poultry, caused
by microorganisms susceptible to colistin,
e.g., E. coli and Salmonella spp.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to polymyxins.
DOSAGE AND
ADMINISTRATION:
For oral administration in drinking water or
artificial milk.
Calves, sheep and goats....... 1 g per 80 kg
body weight twice daily for 5 – 7 days
Swine............................250 g per 1000 litres
of
water continuously for 5 – 7 days
Poultry ................ 100 - 200 g per 1000 litres
of water continuously for 5 – 7 days
Medicated water or milk should be used
immediately and refreshed every 24 hours
for the duration of the treatment.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Gastrointestinal disturbances.
Precautions and warnings:
It is recommended that the susceptibility
of the causative microorganisms is established
before treatment is commenced.
Severely sick animals have altered
drinking patterns and may need to be
medicated parenterally.
Dosage may need to be adjusted to
reflect herd or flock water consumption.
WITHDRAWAL TIMES:
Meat: 1 day.
